First Federation Trust
We have volunteers from members of the St Michael's, Ilsington who come into the school library and run the Christian Library fortnightly on a Thursday throughout the school year.
All children from years 1 to 6 are invited to choose a book.
During Christian Library days, each class in turn have the opportunity to attend. The children have the chance to explore the books available and to choose one book for themselves. The library contains a variety of books, some of which are bible stories and others that are fiction books which contain a Christian ethos, such as The House on the Rock by Mick Inkpen, Treasures of the Snow by Patricia St. John and The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis.
In addition, there are topical books that follow the Christian calendar; these are brought out during these celebration periods, such as Easter. In turn, this supports the schools Christian festivities and supports their Christian values. The children may choose to bring their Christian Library books home. These are easily identifiable by the gold coloured sticker on the spine of the books.
Currently each child is permitted to take one book at a time. The Christian Library asks the pupils to return their book at the next Christian library day, where they can either, renew for an additional period or exchange for a different book. Please remind your child/children to return their books on these days as the system will not allow more than on Christian Library book to be borrowed at a time.
