In the summer term of 2018 the School Council voiced their concerns about snacks available and wanted to change the snacks available to a healthy snack to support our healthy school initiative. Therefore, Blackpool Primary School made changes to the school policy and with effect from the Autumn Term in 2018 the school kitchen have been supplying a wider range of healthy snacks which are available to purchase with a snack ticket.
The cost of the ticket is 40p and you can buy these via ParentPay. Please purchase these via the link: https://www.parentpay.com/
The following snacks are available from the school kitchen:
Every day there will be a choice of fruit, vegetables, dried fruit; such as raisins, yogurts, crackers and cheese, and rice cakes. There will also be a home-made snack that can be chosen (eg. fruit muffin, healthy jam tarts (tortilla bases), mini-quiches and organic fruit ice-lollies.
All snacks are nut free due to having people in our school who have allergies and all recipes are dairy free and some are gluten free.
Every now and again the school kitchen will try new ideas such as smoothies, healthy recipe flapjacks and pop-corn.
To follow our healthy snack policy please can children who are bringing in their snacks from home will be able to bring in fruit, salad, vegetables or fruit/cereal bar.
Here is a list of things that the school thought were unhealthy, and we won’t be bringing as snacks:
Crisps, chocolate bars, sweets, sugary biscuits and cakes because we know that they are not the most healthy choice.
Thank you for helping to make our school healthy and encouraging everyone to have a healthy life-style.
