Doel Cup Football and South Dartmoor Tag Rugby Tournaments
It has been a busy sporting schedule this week with the school year 5/6 Football Team competing in the Doel Cup Football Tournament as well as the year 3/4 and 5/6 Tag Rugby Teams competing in their own respective tournaments.
The Football Team played against a number of teams across the local district with the standard of football being exceptionally high. With the team playing some really fast paced passing football, the team secured comfortable victories, two draws and just one defeat, suffered at the hands of the overall winners from Rydon School. A really good performance from the team who are really turning into a set of talented young football players.
On Wednesday 3rd November the school Tag Rugby Teams competed against other schools from the South Dartmoor Learning Community at a bitterly cold setting on the South Dartmoor Astroturf. Both teams competed really well with the year 3/4 team building on their skills and showing some great passing movements and securing a victory during their group stage.
The year 5/6 team showcased some fantastic rugby during the tournament running in some superb tries against their opposition. They won their group convincingly and startled their opposition with a fantastic performance in the final, winning by 4 tries to 1. They have now progressed through to the Area Finals next Tuesday 9th December at South Dartmoor Community College, where they will play against other winners from neighbouring learning communities. A fantastic achievement by all the pupils involved!
