On Tuesday 28th February the year 6 pupils had the opportunity to attend South Dartmoor for this years Body Language primary schools event. They began the day with a technical rehearsal of the dance that they had been practicing at school. Following this the children participated in both an art and music workshop which they all enjoyed. After that they had the opportunity to watch both the junior and senior South Dartmoor dance company perform some of their own Body Language performances. The theme for this year's Body Language was Heroes throughout history. We wanted to explore the heroes of both the first and second World Wars and attempt to portray the journey that these people made through dance. Our dance focused on the heroes raging form the soldiers and pilots to the doctors and nurses. We used a variety of movements and levels to best represent the emotions in the idea of war itself, exploring the journeys of the young, courageous men and women who gave their best for our country; allowing us to lead the lives we do to this day. The children were a credit to the school with both teachers and parents proud of all 45 children joining together to create an amazing dance.
