Children in Year 5 and 6 buddy with pupils in EYFS and Key Stage 1. This activity supports our younger learners to feel confident and build relationships with pupils across the school.
Activities that buddies support with include reading, discussion, play-based learning and general support in the school.
This activity is mutually beneficial as it also promotes a sense of responsibility, pride and achievement for our older learners.
The children very much look forward to their weekly buddy time - something that the whole school community are very proud of.
Some pupils also benefit from individual mentoring and support from another student to support specific needs, which is implemented on an individual basis. This again is designed to be a mutually beneficial process for both mentor and mentee in supporting them to flourish.
