The Blackpool Spirit Award

The Blackpool Spirit Award is an optional programme open to all Year 6 pupils. It provides a fantastic opportunity for children to connect with their community, develop important life skills, and grow into confident, responsible, and caring young people.

What the Award Is About?

  • Encourages children to support charities, community projects, and environmental causes

  • Builds empathy, compassion, and positive values

  • Helps children think about their future and the difference they can make

What Children Will Learn?

  • Money skills: planning, budgeting, and managing simple finances

  • Life skills: responsibility, organisation, and communication

  • Health and wellbeing: looking after their physical and mental health

  • Character development: confidence, resilience, independence, and self-esteem

  •

What Children Need to Do?

Children will complete all sections of the award, collect evidence of their achievements, and organise their work in a folder. They will present their folder to an assessor, who will give them an overall mark. Based on their work and commitment, children have the opportunity to achieve a Pass, Merit, or Distinction.

Awards & Celebration!

At the end of the programme, children will take part in an awards evening to celebrate their achievements. Special awards are also given for the best-presented folder and for the child who has contributed the most hours or made the biggest impact as a Courageous Advocacy Champion.

The Blackpool Spirit Pathway

The Blackpool Spirit Pathway is a whole-school programme designed to help every child flourish, building up to the Year 6 Spirit Award. It offers meaningful opportunities for all pupils to grow through both in-school and at-home activities.

Each half term, children will have the chance to take part in a challenge linked to the different strands of the Blackpool Spirit Award. These activities are designed to challenge pupils while supporting their personal development, in line with our school vision: “Only my best is good enough – Flourishing together.”

Through these challenges, our pupils will develop skills, confidence, and character while making a positive contribution to their community.

Keep an eye out for our  half termly letter with details of the latest challenge!
