Our Good Ofsted report

Blackpool Primary School in Devon, part of First Federation Trust, is celebrating the results of its recent Ofsted inspection where it was judged as being ‘Good’ in all areas.

The report has recognised the pupils at Blackpool for their politeness and inclusiveness with positive attitudes to learning, who are ‘proud members’ of the school community.
With a recent period of significant change for the school, improvements have been made to both the curriculum and overall culture, with quality of education being identified as a key priority. The report acknowledges the clear priorities leaders have identified to ensure this continues to improve.

Russell Pearson, Head of Blackpool Primary said, ‘We are pleased with the positive feedback we have received, with the inspection team recognising many wonderful things about our school and the positive direction we are heading in. The school has been praised for its ambitious curriculum, and our supportive staff have worked hard to improve all areas including a particular focus on reading skills.’

Paul Walker, Chief Executive Officer of First Federation Trust, a multi-academy trust of 21 primary schools across Devon and west Dorset, said, ‘Our main aim as a trust is to support our member schools, working collaboratively and sharing collective experience – it is excellent to see this recognised in the most recent Ofsted report for Blackpool Primary. The special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) provision has also been recognised as a ‘growing strength of the school’ with an increase in staff expertise in this area and a dedicated space for children to learn.'

Russell continues, ‘We’re encouraged to hear that the pupils, staff, parents and carers are excited by our recent developments and have confidence in how the drive for school improvement will continue. I am determined to build on this positive report and to take the school on to bigger and brighter things in the future. Thank you to our fantastic staff, children and parents for their continued support.’
